How to add text to Original Country Clipart by Lisa's
Blank Banners and Buttons
First you will need
Paint Shop Pro. You can either purchase it online or in a store, or just download the fully working trial.
Open up Paint Shop Pro and then click File/Open and open up the banner or button image you want to add text to.
Next you will need to Increase the Color Depth to 16 Million Colors. Depending on what version of Paint Shop Pro you have, you can do this by clicking on either Colors/Increase Color Depth/16 Million Colors (24 bit) OR Image/Increase Color Depth/16 Million Colors (24 bit)
Once you have the colors increased then you can add the text. To add text, click on the "Text Tool" (it looks like a letter A) Now click on the image (banner or button) You will then see a new box where you can type your text. Choose your Font Name, Font Style and Font Size that you want to use. It's Very Important that you also select the "Antialias" effect here so that your text will be smooth looking. Click "OK" and you will see your text "Floating" on the banner or button. Position it where you want it and click off of it.
When you are satisfied with the way it looks you'll need to Decrease the Color Depth back to 256 Colors by clicking: Colors/Decrease Color Depth/256 Colors (8 bit) OR Image/Decrease Color Depth/256 Colors (8 bit) In the newer versions of Paint Shop Pro make sure you click on 'Image" then "Palette" then "Set Palette Transparancy" then choose "set the transparency to the background color" which should be normally white.
Now you can re-save the image WITH A NEW NAME by clicking File/Save As
In the "Save As" Box choose the location on your hardrive where you'll want to save the new banner or button and name it in the "Filename" box. Also, make sure that the "Save As Type" has "GIF-CompuServe" Selected and that the "Sub Type" has "Version 87" selected. Now click "Save" and you're done!
I hope this little tutorial helps if helpful to you. Good luck and Have Fun!
